Vietnam automotive software engineers' number falls short of market demand

There is a shortage of Vietnam automotive software engineers in the market.

Vietnam automotive software industry expects to see robust growth from 2020 to 2026. However, it is reported that the country is lacking of human resources to meet the market need.

According to Prof Dr Ho Tu Bao of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, the automotive software industry has huge demand for engineers who can apply artificial intelligence (AI). Despite 51,114 IT students graduating from universities every year, Vietnam automotive software engineers’s number is still falling short of market demand.

The government is trying to solve the problem by investing more on Vietnam’s digital transformation. The annual revenue invested of Vietnam in digitization and automation is reported to be 2-3 times higher than the worlds’ average. That revenue will be divided in R&D, manufacturing, and mostly prioritised, training.

There are 149 universities, 412 colleges that train Information Technology in the country, most of which partner up with well-known tech enterprises (both domestically and globally) to improve and advance their training programs. Also, it is suggested that universities should even open courses for engineers who want to improve themselves. This offers students opportunities to exchange knowledge, experience with experts, scholars, who have been in the industry long enough.

Rightful investment and effort into IT training help tackle the problem of human resources at the moment. Abundant and well-trained automotive software engineers will be the key to drive Vietnam through the rapid growth of its automotive software industry.

AI can prevent Covid-19 in the future

Epidemic such as Covid-19 is difficult to control when not having solutions right away. However, in the future, AI is expected to make it easier.
These days, it might be too late for this new technology to prevent the Covid-19 outbreak. Otherwise, we can believe in AI ability for the next potential outbreaks in the future. AI is excellent in connecting data to detect what is the next effective method or experiment.
Back to the early period of the Covid-19, Big data only had a little information of the initial emerging of virus Covid-19 in China. No important information was a huge challenge to Big data. However, researchers’ genome creating of the new virus in only few weeks for the first reported case was very promising because it showed that we got more information than 2 months ago.
Andrew Hopkins, CEO of Excientia, an AI start-up in Britain, one of specialists is studying AI to look for medicine for some diseases. Mr. Hopkins said that the process for new methods started from theory to clinical trials at least 18 to 24 months by AI. Exscientia designed a new compound for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) that was tested in the laboratory less than 1 year of the research phase. This speed is five times faster than the average ones.
Healx, an AI biotechnology company in Cambridge (England), also used machine learning to find new usage for existing medicines.
Besides, every company has a group of anthropologists working with AI in process instruction. Specifically, Exscientia provides algorithms to find the compound while Healx gives AI’s predictions to analysts to pick a suitable solution.
AI has already supplied medicine for some popular diseases. According to Bloomberg, on February 20th, a group of researchers at Massachusetts Technology Institution used AI to detect a new antibiotic compound that could kill a series of complicated bacteria.
However, the biggest challenge of AI is clinical trial. Every kind of medicine needs to be tested strictly before filling prescriptions for patients. This process requires a lot of time until receiving authorities’ agreement.
Another difficulty is talented staff. “It is hard to find someone who has both AI and biology knowledge. In addition, it is not easy for big companies to make decision”, Irina Haivas, a partner of Atomico and a former surgeon at Healx said.

Fast development of Artificial Intelligence in Vietnam

In Vietnam, Artificial Intelligence is growing speedily and continuously confirming that it is a turning point of technology in the 4.0 Generation. High-tech development has established AI tactics to use AI for pushing economic growth.
In recent years, more and more organizations have applied AI in different areas such as education, healthcare, telecommunications… AI has been not only the lead in the market but also made massive revenue.
Presently, AI has been received the most attention in the world. Several nations have invested billions of US dollars in AI expansion plans with the desire to be the winner on AI racing track.
With AI trend, Vietnam is not the exception. Over the last few years, Vietnam’s AI industry has many incredible developments with AI in a wide range of works.
Big local technology companies really enjoy spending money on AI, developing AI as well as deploying AI strategies. Furthermore, Inland corporations in addition to inventive star-ups implement AI in lots of products in latest commerce plans.
Otherwise, as other nations, Vietnam also faces the lack of big databases, resources, infrastructure…
External technology enterprises and top AI corporations in the world have launched offices in Vietnam to exploit well-qualified workforce to server for their markets.
Foreign countries’ invitations have drawn significant attentions of Vietnamese young labor force in AI industry. While the preparation for these people in the AI field is still inadequate as well as not having enough well-trained instructors. Hence, Vietnam need to have appropriate plans in developing AI workforce.
Especially, Vietnam has many people who are doing AI research overseas together with outstanding AI specialists in technologically advanced nations. As a result, it is essential to associate with them and boost their awareness to devote to Vietnam.
At the recent onshore and offshore AI meetings, Vietnam has been said to have a weaker beginning compared to other nations. If Vietnam sticks to AI development strategies as technologically advanced nations, it will be hard to catch up with them.
AI enterprises has selected to pay attention on dealing with minor and particular problems in daily life. However, they have not still had mutual agreements in shaping a shared platform and data sources on technologies for the AI environment.
Hence, it is important for Vietnam to follow its path for the AI development strategies. Vietnam should have special rules to develop engineers in the high-tech field. In addition, Vietnam needs to associate with AI communities, which have shaped freely, to increase the delivery of data, research, and applications to making a stronger AI platform.

Microsoft puts up US$20,000 bounty for Azure DevOps bugs

Microsoft has introduced a new bug bounty program offering up to US$20,000 for anyone that can find vulnerabilities in Azure DevOps.
The program extends to bugs discovered in Azure DevOps online services as well as the latest release of Azure DevOps server.
Previously known as Visual Studio Team Services, Azure DevOps allows developers to collaborate on code development.
Microsoft senior program manager Jarek Stanley wrote in a blog post that if the submission isn't eligible for a bounty but still helped the company to fix or improve a product, submitters would be offered public thanks and recognition. He added that well-written reports and functional exploits were more likely to result in their authors receiving payment.
"The researcher community plays an essential role in keeping our customers secure, and we will review every submission and recognize your efforts according to our program criteria," Stanley added.
Microsoft has been generous with its bug bounty programs in the past, the most recent being focused on discovering vulnerabilities in its identity services. Microsoft offers anywhere between US$500 and up to US$100,000 for high-quality submissions that report issues with identity services.
