How much Vietnam has to spend for 5G?

According to the development orientation of the Information and Communication industry in 2020 issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), 5G is identified as an important infrastructure to underpin the development of the digital economy and digital society.

Accordingly, the goal of commercializing 5G products is also determined this year.

Vietnam will not be late in deploying and developing 5G

Vietnam is one of 109 countries and territories investing in 5G networks. In Southeast Asia, Vietnam is deploying 5G with Malaysia and Singapore.According to MIC, in 2020 5G will officially be opened in Vietnam. In fact, months ago, MIC approved to test 5G in two largest cities in Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

Along with 5G, large enterprises are investing heavily in the production of Internet of Things (IoT) in order to catch up the era of Internet connecting everything, smart cities and smart home ... 5G will go hand in hand with technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Automation, Machine Learning, Big Data ... and will be connected on the 5G high speed mobile network platform to meet quick processing with large amounts of calculations and data.

How much Vietnam has to spend for developing 5G?

According to the report "5G in Southeast Asia", the demand for investment in 5G of carriers in Vietnam in the period of 2021-2025 will be between 1.5-2.5 billion USD. Despite the need for 5G investment capital up to billions of dollars, according to industry experts, such a capital amount for Vietnamese carriers can be fully arranged.

In 2010, when 3G technology was first launched in Vietnam, the total investment capital of Vietnamese operators in 3G was more than 42,000 billion VND, equivalent to about 2 billion USD.

Also according to the above report, in the first 5 years of launching 5G service in Vietnam, the number of subscribers will reach about 6 million, and bring carriers about 300 million USD in revenue from 2025.
