The effects of 5G on the development of mobile applications

According to a study conducted by Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GMSA) earlier this year, 5G will account for 15% of the global mobile industry by 2025, with an estimated 1.4 billion devices operating on the 5G network. For the mobile application development industry, the launch of 5G networks will not only affect the way people use mobile applications, but also bring new opportunities for developers. In the future, 5G will allow developers to explore, build new platforms, and create applications that allow customers to experience faster, more personalized services.

What is 5G?
5G is not a modified version of 4G; instead, it is an entirely new network infrastructure. 5G has the potential to revolutionize the way mobile networks work. 5G networks promise to enhance mobile connectivity and improve smartphone experience for users by providing faster data sharing with connection speeds of around 10 Gigabit/s, 10 times faster than existing radio technology. High-speed data transfer will completely change the way people communicate; but for mobile application developers, speed is not the only thing that will bring new possibilities in the way of application development.

Lower latency: Latency is a cause of concern for mobile device users, especially when these devices and their networks are being used to make important decisions in real time. Current 4G networks have an average latency of 50 milliseconds, while 5G networks will reduce latency to just one millisecond, which results in less latency and network interference.

Increased connection density: Connection density is related to the ability to successfully support the sending of certain messages, even in densely populated areas of the network. Currently, 4G networks can only support about 2,000 connected devices per km2, and when the average number of connected devices per user is expected to increase, each user will use more devices like smart watches, smart phones...4G network will not be able meet demand. 5G networks will solve this inadequacy of 4G networks with the ability to support up to 1 million connected devices per km2.

How will 5G impact mobile app development?
With the creation of 5G, mobile applications are not only more efficient, but also more suitable for integrating and using technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. 5G will allow developers to create a richer user experience, which is also a deciding factor for customers to use the app or delete it.

With the high speed and low latency that 5G networks provide, developers can provide customers with special experiences like video and gaming applications that will require less buffering time, which allows the experience to be more engaging and faster. Increased network speed and the ability to process more data will allow mobile app gamers to download game packages over the mobile network instead of being asked to download over a Wi-Fi

5G will allow developers to integrate other technologies into more efficient applications. Specifically, the app market is likely to see an increase in cloud-based applications. As the tasks we require smartphones to perform become increasingly complex, the ability to create applications that can be used effectively in cloud as a means of storing data will redefine how and when to use the application..

Basically, by bringing application data to cloud, customers can access and run applications without having to install them on their devices. This means that the processing power and hardware of the device will not be affected by the application.

While it will take some time before customers, developers and businesses can fully enjoy the advantages of 5G, technology will play an integral role in helping developers respond meet customers' needs. As mobile applications continue to evolve, 4G technology cannot support the enormous amount of data generated. In fact, 4G has shown signs of being overloaded, as many studies show that network speeds vary drastically based on the number of connected customers. If you're currently using 4G network technology, 5G is an option worth discovering and exploring.

In support of next-generation mobile applications, 5G technology with a commitment to higher data rates, lower latency and increased connectivity will be the only way to deliver to customers richer experiences. For businesses, that helps maintain customers and increase revenue from mobile apps in the coming years. When 5G network deployment is promoted in markets, it will create favorable conditions for developing applications that need more data based on 5G networks.

5G technology's research, application, development in Vietnam have become one of the most important milestones of this year. 5G trials for three major telecommunication businesses have been licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications. The purpose is to create an important infrastructure for the development of the digital economy and better meet the demand of increasing connectivity speed and scale. The project would be an overall plan to move towards a comprehensive digital economy and society by 2030.
